Noted mangaka: Yamane Ayano

Yamane Ayano, some yaoi fans may heard of her. She’s the artist and writer of various manga such as Crimson Spell, the Slam Dunk series, and Double Face. She has written many more, these are the ones that I know of. There are some things you can learn about her on the website Baka-Updates and Forbidden Fruit, a shrine dedicated to Ayano. She was a guest at Yaoi-Con 2004.

Yaoi pictures to start your weekend!

I liked this one. Even though I’m not a huge fan of Reno and Rude pairings. It looks so realistic! :P

This is more shonen ai, but I like it.

Enjoy your weekend!

A new Boys Love movie

There’s a new Boys Love anime being released called Junjo Romantica which is going to premiere on Japanese television on April 10. You can view the promotion on this website.

A yaoi cafe!

I’m late on this because I just foundout a yaoi cafe opened in Tyokyo. Sounds nice, doesn’t it.

“Although themed bars and role-playing cafes aren’t new in Japan, most are male-oriented. Visitors to such places can expect to be served by shy cute maids in frilly outfits, sexy dominatrixes, or – in some infamous places – waitresses wearing no underwear.

Given the popularity of Edelstein with young Japanese women, it appears that themed cafes aimed at females can also be a lucrative market. “

Manga Review: Walkin' Butterfly Volume 2 (non-yaoi)

The manga entitled Walkin’ Butterfly is the story of a young woman who has a the goal of becoming a model. In the second volume as Michiko pursues her goal, she faces some obstacles. To make matters worse, Michiko isn’t exactly model material. She’s clumsy and ungraceful, and very stubborn.

Meanwhile, the character named Mihara is facing his own problems. Mihara is a fashion designer who is quite passionate about his work.

Throughout the entire story, Michiko is uncooperative. Ms. Tago a former model gives her assignments in order for her make into modeling, but Michiko doesn’t seem to take the jobs seriously. On the other hand, there are occasions where Michiko puts effort into learning how to walk in heels like a model. Mihara is another interesting character. He ends up in the hospital due to malnutrition, probably due to overworking himself.

I like how the manga deals with two characters who are experiencing a sense of failure. These are the things Mihara and Michiko have in common. The manga does contains lots of humor, especially with Michiko with her stubbornness and clumsiness. But with the humor the manga is sad in many ways, especially towards the end.

As for the artwork, was pretty good. I wasn’t disappointed with it. It seems Walkin’ Butterfly is in the genre of shojo manga, so if you’re a fan I would recommend this. On a scale I would give Walkin’ Butterfly a seven and a half.

Best homoerotic kissing scenes

Hey folks, I’ve complied a list of the best kissing scenes (of course between two guys). The list is a mix of yaoi and non-yaoi.

The first is a scene from the series Queer As Folk between Brian and Justin. From season one, episode four.

Why is this sexy? Brian gets a nice blowjob after engaging in a passionate kiss with Justin. There are some yaoi fans who can appreciate a steamy homoerotic kissing scene. Sucks that the show is over, but I can still watch reruns.

Next is a scene from the yaoi anime Our Road of No Return. I’m not familiar with this particular anime, but I thought the kissing scene between the characters was sexy.

You can see why it’s sexy.

Another kissing scene that’s been surfacing, I’ve seen it on a few message boards and people have used the scene as an avatar.

I’m gonna find out who they are. ^_^

This is a video complied from the movie Formula 17 which I’ve seen and enjoyed. There were a few kissing scenes I thought were lovely.

If you haven’t seen this movie, I really recommend it seeing it.

Finally from the anime Gravitation is another video complied of kissing scenes.

I hope you enjoy these videos.

An article about yaoi fangirls

The UK magazine The First Post has done an article on yaoi fangirls and the popularity of yaoi. It seems that yaoi is now becoming more popular in the UK. If that’s the case I wonder how much is in yaoi publishing? The article does a good job about giving a general analysis of what yaoi is, but (like many other articles on yaoi in the past) made it sound as though young women are specifically attracted to yaoi. These days, gay men are also becoming more interested in yaoi as well.

They call it ‘Yaoi’. The derivation of the word is obscure. Some think it’s just the Japanese way of saying ‘gay’. Others claim the word is an acronym, derived from: ‘yama nashi, ochi nashi, imi nashi’ (which loosely translates as ‘no story, just the good bits’).”

Yaoi Manga Release for March

The last (3rd) volume of Can’t Win With You is coming out. Let’s hope the story turns out to be a happy ending. If you read the first two volumes you know it’s a story of some rich kids.

Ai no Kusabi: Destiny volume two is coming out. Riki finds himself in a bad situation, and he is still haunted by the humiliation and pleasure he received from Iason. This is one of those stories that many yaoi fans have been waiting for.

Sweet Admiration deals with a young man named Katsuya who always had feelings for Shio. But there’s a twist of a fate that happens in this story. Find out when it comes out! ;)

Great Place High School seems to deal with all sorts of characters, from weirdos to narcissists.

The Color of Love is the story of a young man named Nao has feelings for his long time friend. However when he tells Nao he looks different, Nao overacts. Why?

This manga has a very strange title. Selfish Mr. Mermaid. Well, I think it’s strange, it’s the story of two characters named Kanan and a merman. So I suppose there is a reason for the title.

Finally, there is Don’t Blame Me volume one. University student Toshiaki is trying to make his life more exciting. He meets a group of students who seem incredibly odd, and Toshiaki’s life takes a turn.
